Step 2 – Drain CVT fluid. Remove the engine splash panel to gain access to the necessary transmission fluid plugs. Simply loosen the (3) lower valance bolts and remove the (2) the Phillips screws securing the panel to the subframe. Figure 2.
The fluid level should be between the upper and lower marks. If necessary, add fluid and recheck. The only way to change fluid is to drop the pan, replace the filter then refill using the temperature/level adjustment method. At most all you can replace is 3.5 liters. I recomend changing the fluid and filter every 100,000 miles based on the fluid analysis I have seen.
